Greenwood writes his wife with news from the goldfields of Nevada Territory.

      “Dearest Wife,

… I intend to come home and bring you out as soon as I can get away and leave things all right here. There has been great times here the last week. The Town Company Survey has run out and everything in town that was not sold by them is jumped. And I have jumped and fenced in 4 lots, back of Steves. I was determined to have my share of what was going. I have also got an interest in a claim in Bunker Hill of Gold Bearing Quartz. There is considerable of gold Quartz being found now in different places. I shall write to Ready on next Sunday when I come in town again. He agreed to send me that fifty dollars when I wanted it, you can just tell him to give it to you. I can get money here when I need it and it will save me sending it to you, be sure and ask him for it as you must be in need now of some money. … Tell or send word to Mr. Peddleford not to think of bringing such things as he spoke of to this country it will ruin him. If he comes bring provisions and come to mine, bring a load and he can sell them…”
