This edition was the first printed but not the first published. The "first edition" published in London by Henry Colburn in 1827, was set up from advance sheets of the Paris (Bossange) edition.
"And the said James [Fenimore Cooper] agrees that he will not permit the said book to be published in Paris without having supplied the said Henry [Colburn] with all the sheets in sufficient season to enable him to publish in London one day, at least, before the appearance of the work in the said City of Paris ...
