London: Printed for Christopher Meredith, 1644
first edition, small quarto, 4 l., 71, [1] pp., dis-bound, hole in last four leaves affecting text, some foxing and staining, else a good copy.
The preface is signed A. S. [i.e. Adam Steuart], and the work throughout relates largely to the Church Government disputes in New England. A great deal of theological mustard and vinegar is poured out against New England Men, their inconsistencies and divisions. It was written while Roger Williams was in London, and no doubt the pungent passage on page 64 alludes to his expulsion by the Saints of Massachusetts, and his settlement in Rhode Island: "If they [the New England Men] had the upper hand over us here, as there, they should send us all to some Isle of Dogs, as they have done others."
