Mauch Chunk, Pa.: Published by C. F. Schneur, 1879
mammoth albumen photograph, image measuring 14 7/8 x 32 ½ inches, on a printed card stock mount, overall measurement: 21 x 39 ½ inches. Bottom edge of mount trimmed aproximately 1/8 inch across affecting some text, the word New York and the bottom edges of printed scrolls, and with light dampstain (see image above). The photograph itself is in very good condition with only light spotting and foxing mainly in the sky.
A massive and rare photographic view of Mauch Chunk, now Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. The sweeping panoramic view depicts the railroad station and the lines of the Lehigh Valley Railroad, canal, river and the town, including businesses, residences and other structures. The image is very clear and crisp with excellent detail; the lettering on train cars in front of the rail station can be read, as well as some of the larger signs in town such as: "Mauch Chunk Steam Printing," and the "Mansion House," which was run by C. F. Schneur, wherein he sold oddities and tourist items.
