Text in English and German. The Ebenezer Society was a communal group whose members were drawn from the German Pietist movement. Members came from Germany in the 1840's and built a series of communal villages near Buffalo, New York. Due in part to the growth and expansion of Buffalo the community moved to Iowa and formed the Amana Society.
