broadside, measuring 18 x 11 5/8 inches, old folds, printed on thin, poor quality paper stock, old archival tissue repairs along folds and at some fold joints, else a very good copy.
Illustrated with a cut of the "new large steam ferry boat BIRDIE BRENT," which traveled regularly across the Missouri River every twenty minutes from Boonville. There is a distance table showing the distances between Boonville and various localities in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana and as far south as Sherman and Dallas, Texas. There follows a section, signed in type by John Porter, presumably the proprietor of the Boonville Ferry, testifying to the accuracy of the distances and to the quality of the roads around Boonville, he also urges emigrants traveling from Rocheport to Sedalia, Missouri to cross at Boonville instead of Rocheport, which would save them some 12 miles. He also states that the quality of the roads was far superior on the north side of the river. Boonville is in Cooper County, Missouri. Rare unlisted in OCLC, etc.
