small quarto, "friendship album," engraved title-page, 43 leaves, some colored sheets, several embossed leaves, engraved plate, many leaves with manuscript poetry, sentiments, verse, some water colors, plus several inlaid items, et cetera, inscriptions dated 1840-1848, inscribed to Lucy P. Phillips, whose ownership stamp dated "Hanson, Mass. May the 30, 1840," is on the front blank leaf. Bound in the original full straight grain red morocco for J. C. Riker, boards tooled in gilt and blind, spine tooled in gilt, some minor shelf wear and rubbing, small hole at base of spine, else a fine, bright example of this attractive binding executed for Riker's friendship album.
