Describes in detail the various French, Spanish, Dutch and English colonial possessions. The work contains considerable information on the Caribbean and includes an important Arret concerning slaves in the colonies. There is an interesting account of natives in Jamaica and the evils occasioned by their excessive consumption of rum called "Tu Diable," "Kill Deer," etc. Also contains information on New Spain, Louisiana, the United States and Canada, the Society of the Cincinnati and the Dunkards, amongst other topics. It appears by a note on the verso of the title-page that the work was edited by M. Poncelin de la Roche-Tilhac. Barbier implies that it continued to be published until 1791, although Sabin states that he had seen no volume later than 1787. Sabin 941and 68456; Echeverria and Wilkie,
